After owning both the Galaxy and Kindle Fire, I'm going to have to say the Kindle Fire wins. Its usability is just off the charts compared to the Galaxy and it has many more useful features. I'd recommend checking out the Kindle Fire before settling on the Galaxy, trust me, you won't regret it.
